John R. Day is a CPA, having graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Accounting. He then continued at the University of Georgia to receive a Masters degree in Accounting.
John worked at one of the world’s largest CPA firms for twelve years. He served as Vice-President and Controller for Charter Medical Corporation from 1986-1995. John later became the Chief Financial Officer for CareSouth Health Systems until the company was sold in 1998.
He has extensive experience with stock offerings. He has assisted corporations and small businesses as well as individuals with financial planning.
He is also a member of the Personal Financial Planning Division of the American Institute of CPAs as well as the Financial Planning Association. He is currently on the AICPA’s National CPA Financial Insights Panel.
He has served as Treasurer of United Way in Macon and as President of the Macon Estate Planning Council. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Macon and is now a member of the Rotary Club of Union County and is their President-elect. A native of Waynesboro, Georgia, John and his wife Diana have two daughters. He enjoys jogging, playing golf and hiking in the mountains.
Bill Ennis is also a CPA. He received an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Columbus State University and a Masters degree in Accounting from the University of Georgia. Early in his career, Bill worked for ten years at an international CPA firm in Atlanta, Georgia. He then served as Vice-President of Internal Audit for Charter Medical Corporation. Later, he was Vice-President of Business Ethics and Compliance for Charter Behavioral Health Systems. Prior to joining the firm he was Director of Finance for a regional health care company. With his experience and background, Bill brings a broad business perspective to our company.
He is also a member of the Personal Financial Planning Division of the American Institute of CPAs. He has served as Treasurer and Board member of the Downtown Macon Rotary Club and has been Chairman of the Board of the Macon Volunteer Clinic. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of First Presbyterian Day School.
Bill has two children, Spencer and Rebecca. Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Bill has made Macon his home since 1989. He enjoys spending time with his family and being in the north Georgia mountains.

Matt has worked extensively in financial planning for healthcare professionals. He managed the retirement plan and was the lead financial planner for Navicent Health. This is one of the largest healthcare retirement plans in the state. He also managed the Upson Regional Medical Center retirement plan prior to joining Day & Ennis.
Matt presently serves as an officer for the Central Georgia Estate Planning Council and sits on the Board for the Mercer University Student Management Investment Fund. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Macon.
Matt is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Macon, which is sponsored by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. He is an alum of GeorgiaForward’s Young Gamechangers. This leadership action program brings together 50 of Georgia’s brightest minds under the age of 40, to help solve persistent challenges of a selected Georgia community.
A native of Conyers, Georgia, Matt received his BS from Georgia Southern University in 2004. He received his MBA from Georgia Southern University in 2010 and completed the Executive Financial Planner Program through the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He and his wife Jennifer have a son, Stone. Matt is an avid golfer and loves to travel.
Matthews Barnett is a Financial Advisor at Day & Ennis. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™, having attained the certification issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. He is also a Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College of Financial Services and a Registered Financial Advisor with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (www.napfa.org.)
Matthews has worked in the financial services field since 2012. He served on a large broker-dealer team in Atlanta before transitioning to the fee-only side of the business in 2020.
A native of Macon, he is a 2013 graduate of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Macon. He serves on the Central Georgia Estate Planning Council and is a member of Idle Hour Country Club. Matthews looks forward to becoming more involved in the community with his recent move back home.
Matthews graduated from Stratford Academy and received his BS from The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business in 2010. His wife, Morgan, is a Valdosta native and Auburn Alum. Matthews enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, traveling, and going to concerts.
Lizzie Gossett is a Financial Advisor Associates. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, having attained the certification issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. Lizzie’s interest in financial planning was confirmed during her 2019 internship with Day & Ennis. She grew up in a family business and worked for a financial services firm while she was in college.
Macon is Lizzie’s home town. She and her husband Skylar live in a house formerly owned by a Day & Ennis team member. They enjoy cooking, watching college football and visiting her two young nephews, who live just five houses away.
Autumn Vaughn is a Financial Advisor Associate. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia. She is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, having attained the certification issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. She is also a Registered Financial Advisor with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (www.napfa.org)
While in college, Autumn interned as a Financial Counselor for people in Athens, Georgia in need of financial guidance. She was also a member of the Student Financial Planning Association. She joined Day & Ennis after graduating in 2020.
Autumn is a native of Gray, Georgia. She and her husband Landon live in Macon, where she enjoys cooking, doing crafts, and spending time with her family.
