Your Financial Advisor May Not Actually Be An Advisor — Until now, brokers were allowed to call themselves “financial advisors”, leading many investors to assume that they were receiving unbiased financial advice. But brokers have no fiduciary responsibility to their clients and make their income from sales commissions. Actual financial advisors do not take commissions and are required by law to put their clients’ interests ahead of their own. This allows them to provide unbiased financial advice.
